華格納的崔斯坦與依索德 、愛之死（英文版歌詞試譯，請指教）
戀人之路的聖杯牌組
那晚是為什麼聊到Liebestod（中文似乎譯成”愛之死”）這首歌？
為什麼聊到戀人之路塔羅令人不解的安排：
崔斯坦與依索德悲劇收場的戀情，演繹聖杯牌組；
賽姬與邱比特終成眷屬的故事，詮釋寶劍牌組。
總之，說要給人，就找起這首歌來。
不找還好，找了才知道問題多。
首先，找不到華格納精選錄音帶（有也沒用吧……），
拿出手中僅剩的一套完整版，
歌名竟然沒有在曲目中！
從頭翻到尾，連英文介紹、英文歌詞都翻遍了（因為只看得懂英文……），
沒有！
只有介紹中稍微提到哪一幕形成
Liebestod ( Death in Love、Love-Death )的概念。
只好上網搜尋。
才發現，喔喔，大有文章。
一般人所指的Liebestod，是歌劇中的最後一曲，
依索德在發現愛人死了之後，演唱的曲目，Mild und Leise。
可是，華格納自己，卻將這段，
稱為Verklärung (英文：Transfiguration。中文：形變。)
華格納稱之為Liebestod的，其實是歌劇第一幕的前奏。
第二幕 Liebesnacht (Night of Love) 中，
只能在夜晚相會的戀人，
唾棄著虛幻的白晝，歌頌著真實的黑夜，
不知不覺也
渴望起死亡。
依索德：
But this our love 可是，我們的愛
Is it not called Tristan and Isolde? 不是叫做 “崔斯坦與依索德”嗎？
This sweet little word “and”, 『 與』，這個小小的、甜美的連接詞，
Binding as it does love’s union, 就像愛的結合。
Would death not destroy it were Tristan to die? 死亡難道不會摧毀它嗎？如果崔斯坦死了。
（中略）
崔斯坦：
Thus we died, 我們這樣死去，
undivided, 沒有分割，
one for ever, 永遠一體，
without end, 沒有結束，
never waking, 不再醒來，
never fearing, 不再恐懼，
embraced namelessly 無名無姓，在愛裡相擁

崔斯坦：
You Tristan, 你，崔斯坦，
I Isolde, 我，依索德，
No more Tristan! 再也沒有崔斯坦！
依索德：
You Isolde, 你，依索德
I Tristan, 我，崔斯坦
No more Isode! 再也沒有依索德！

No names, 沒有姓名，

newly perceived, 新的知覺，
newly kindled, 新的悸動，
ever, unendingly, 永遠，沒有結束，
one consciousness, 合而為一的意識，
supreme joy of love 愛的至高喜悅，
glowing in our breast. 在我們的胸膛發出光熱。
愛與死的關係，
從這位年輕的公主，誤會母后的意思，將愛液當成致命的毒藥、
從她強迫（所謂）背叛她愛情的年輕王子，一起喝下毒藥赴死、
從喝下毒藥、在彼此的懷裡訴說愛與死，
從談到彼此的死亡才能成就最高的愛，
從愛人死亡，自己獨活的反應，
每一個環節，都表現出兩者深入、複雜多面的激盪。
死亡的，究竟是什麼？
為什麼死亡，弔詭地成為愛情與情慾（皆為某種生命力的極致）的表達形式？(*1)
每一個片段，都提供了思考與感受的起點。
也因為華格納藉由這對戀人之口，
在「愛之夜」一景闡述對愛與死的特定推想，
使依索德在戀人屍體旁，能唱出Mild und liese （歌詞在文章最後）。
而這首歌的歌詞，，
幾乎是絲毫不差地呼應
戀人之路塔羅對聖杯九的詮釋。
終於瞭解，為何Kris Waldherr在書裡描繪，
儘管愛人已死，依索德仰望上方，
無時不刻還是陷入與崔斯坦合一的狂喜出神狀態（她也用了transfigure一字）。
最後，替這篇似乎變成在灌水的文章做個收尾。
或許，也能作為戀人之路塔羅聖杯牌組的註腳？
在And death shall have no dominion一詩中的兩句：
Though lovers be lost love shall not; 戀人消逝，戀情猶存。
And death shall have no dominion. 而死亡不再統治（主宰）。
